Introducing placiibo 2.0

placiibo 2.0 is a major update to the original amiibo NFC backup writer, expanding it into a full collection manager, catalog browser, game compatibility guide, value tracker, and NFC toolkit for Apple devices.

Originally released in July 2020, placiibo began as one of the first iPhone apps focused on personal amiibo NFC backup writing. Version 2.0 is the app’s largest update to date, rebuilding the experience around collection management, game lookup, market value insights, statistics, iCloud sync, and support across more Apple devices.

amiibo collecting can be hard to manage across figures, cards, series, variants, supported games, values, notes, custom tags, and backups. placiibo brings those pieces together in one focused app designed to help collectors organize, explore, value, and preserve their collections.

• Game compatibility guide: Look up supported games and in-game benefits across Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS.
• NFC backup and writing: Scan amiibo, create personal archival backups, and write supported backups to compatible NFC tags and devices on compatible iPhone models.
• Game data editing: Edit supported amiibo game data and write changes back for Smash, Splatoon, and Twilight Princess.
• Market value and statistics: Follow market prices, collection value, historical progress, charts, scans, backups, writes, and collection breakdowns.

Availability

placiibo is available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. Mac and Apple Vision Pro can run the iPad version through compatibility mode, though native support for those platforms is not available yet.

NFC scanning and writing are available on compatible iPhone models.
